About Facial Reflexology
Facial Reflexology is a complementary therapy that uses techniques to massage and apply pressure to specific points on the face. Similar to zone therapy, it is based on the belief that different areas of the face correspond to different areas of the body. By stimulating these points, Facial Reflexology can positively impact the corresponding zone, organ, or area, encouraging the body’s natural healing abilities and restoring balance.
This treatment offers benefits for various conditions, illnesses, as well as overall health and wellbeing. It is a highly individualized treatment, tailored to you as a whole person, considering both the physical and non-physical factors that may be affecting your wellbeing. This approach encourages the body’s natural healing and energy flow.
In addition to its holistic health benefits, Facial Reflexology is becoming increasingly popular for its support in relaxation and its ability to help relieve tension, stress, and anxiety.
- Promotes Relaxation
- Relieves Tension in face and jaw
- Helps alleviate sinus problems
- Boosts skin health
- Improves Circulation
- Enhances wellbeing
- Supports natural healing
- Aids sleep
With overall benefits to help the body restore to its balance naturally it can also help to enhance your overall wellbeing.
Please Note That Reflexology is not a massage nor a substitute for medical treatments and reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe. If you have any specific health concerns, please consult a medical professional.
As a holistic therapy, Facial Reflexology aims to benefit the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
It is believed to work by stimulating reflex points on the face, which correspond to various organs and systems within the body. By doing so, it helps unblock energy channels, promoting the free flow of life energy necessary for healing and maintaining good health.
The face is mapped with reflex points that are connected to different parts of the body. These points are targeted and manipulated through gentle massage and pressure techniques. This process not only aims to boost the health of the corresponding organs and systems but also enhances overall well-being by reducing tension and encouraging relaxation.
Originating from ancient Chinese medicine, Facial Reflexology operates on the principle that stress and illness can be caused by blockages of energy (Qi, pronounced Chi) within the body. By addressing these blockages, Facial Reflexology seeks to restore balance, relieve tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
The honesty part: While it is becoming increasingly popular within the medical profession and the NHS recognising reflexology as a part of CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) and there have been some positive research projects carried out, as yet there is not a large enough body of evidence for reflexologists to make clinical claims of effectiveness.

As a holistic therapy, reflexology aims to benefit the body, mind, emotions and spirit.
It is said to work by unblocking our energy channels that run up from our feet to an organ that’s affected due to a malfunction or disease within the body thus allowing the free flow of life energy necessary for healing and good health.
The mapping of reflex points to other parts of the body are divided into five zones on each foot or hand, drawing a line down vertically extending from each toe or finger It is understood that by manipulating the reflex points in these five zones it will impact the health of the corresponding body part.
A concept originating from Chinese traditional medicine, reflexologists believe that stress and illness can be caused by blockages of energy (Qi, pronounced Chi) within the body which cause illness, limit the release of tension and prevents healing. By treating parts of the feet (or hands) that relate to other areas within the body, it is believed that reflexology can restore Qi within the body part / body.

About Both Foot & Facial
The simple answer is that Reflexology is incredibly relaxing and is a great treatment for everyone of all ages.
It very much depends on your individual circumstance but most of my clients come once a month. With some coming bi-weekly and others with a longer gap between.
The number of sessions needed to experience benefits can also vary from person to person with some noticing the benefits straight away while others may find improvements occur after multiple sessions.
Just press the ‘book appointment’ button and follow the prompts from Fresha.
Prior to your your appointment
- Please do check the terms and conditions regarding cancellations and re-scheduling appointments.
- I will contact you to take a few details and ensure you know how to find me.
On the day:
- Arrive for your treatment with nice clean feet and for facial reflexology, as little make up as you are comfortable with.
- Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns prior to starting.
On arrival, I will ask you to fill out a consultation form, establish what you are looking to get out of the treatment/s and covered any questions you may have prior to starting.
If you are having foot reflexology you will be asked to take your shoes and socks off and lay/sit on the couch. If you are having facial reflexology, just your shoes and also any necklaces and earing will need to be removed. A bowl will be provided to keep any jewellery safe. Bolsters and covers are available to ensure you are nice and comfortable.
I use a specialist reflexology wax for treating the feet and a beautiful purpose made facial oil for treating the face. Please be mindful of the socks and shoes you will be putting back on after the use of the foot wax and the upper clothing, jewellery and hair in relation to the facial oil.
As reflexology (foot or face) is a treatment and not a massage it uses techniques and pressure points that you may find tender at times (more so foot than face). This could be an indication that there is blocked energy within that area and is always good to say should this be the case.
Generally, people choose to close their eyes however this is a personal choice. Either way, it is very important that you feel comfortable and enjoy your treatment so I may check in with you at certain points.
Once your treatment has concluded please remain where you are and allow yourself to relax for a moment before coming round and getting off the couch. During this time, notes will be taken down in relation to what has been found within the treatment.
You will be offered some water while we cover any questions and after treatment care before replacing your socks/shoes/jewellery. A progression plan will also be discussed should this be something you are wanting to continue with.
Finally, it is difficult to remember everything that was said so you will receive a text message with a link to the aftercare advice should you need it.
Please note that during treatment it is common for any of the following to occur: Sighing, tensing of muscles/cramps, feeling of tenderness, sweating, feeling of coldness, stomach gurgling, wind, slight headache, thirst, releasing emotions through crying or laughing.
You may not feel any side effects however it can be common to feel one or a few of the below:
Feeling tired, a headache, have cold/flu like symptoms, pass urine more frequently, increased wind and/or bowel movements, aches and pains, heavier period (females), feel emotional, both highs and lows.
These reactions are normal and it shows that the toxins are being expelled from the body allowing it to re-balance and cleanse itself. If, however, you experience any severe pain or discomfort please seek advice from your GP.
Most side effects are usually noticed within 48 hours after treatment and can be greatly helped by drinking plenty of water.
Drinking tea, coffee, alcohol, or other stimulating drinks can diminish the effectiveness of your session so please try and avoid these. Focusing on eating light, nutritious foods can also help your body continue to heal.
Over the next 24-48 hours following your treatment, make sure to drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. This can help improve your energy levels whilst flushing out any toxins. Try to avoid any strenuous exercise, and ideally rest for at least two hours after your treatment.
The body is trying to heal and re-balancing itself (homeostasis) therefore;
- Pain killing endorphins released to certain areas and cell renewal could be accelerated
- Toxins will likely be released from the tissues into the lymphatics and blood circulation systems
- Toxins can also be released through other areas of the body such as, the skin, , bladder and/or bowels
If you plan on having any further reflexology sessions, please take note of any reactions or side affects you may experience to share when you return.
To help your body after a treatment please follow the below advice:
- Drink plenty of water
- Rest / if you want to sleep
- Allow yourself to cry if needed
- Eat healthy light meals
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
- Avoid or reduce stimulant drinks such as tea, coffee
